The Evangelical Church in Obbach is the parish church of the Evangelical-Lutheran church in Euerbacher Gemeindeteil Obbach .

History of the parish

Obbach was under the imperial knighthood at the time of the Old Kingdom . Under the rule of Kasimir von Seckendorf between 1527 and 1542, the place became Protestant.

In 1924, the church patronage passed to the industrial family Schäfer with the acquisition of the Obbach Castle .

construction

The church was built between 1766 and 1767. Its type is a choir tower church with a retracted choir in the east tower. Stylistically, the nave construction belongs to the baroque . The construction is typical for rural churches in Franconia after the Thirty Years War . The focus here was on functionality. The design is more likely to be described as handcrafted. The galleries are on three sides of the nave. Below the nave is the crypt of the von Bobenhausen family , the original builders of the church. Above the west portal there is an alliance coat of arms Bobenhausen - von der Tann .

Furnishing

The font from 1591 from the previous building consists of a shell basin with a console cornice on a round base with an acantus . The pulpit on the east wall of the nave south of the tower is designed in a Baroque style with corner volutes . In the choir room on the lower floor of the tower there are three epitaphs from the earlier patron family; the first for Sophia Dorothea von Bobenhausen born. October 11, 1690, d. September 4, 1692; the second for Christina Louise von Bobenhausen born. August 3, 1692 d. September 29, 1693; the third for Johanna Eleonore von Bobenhausen born. August 7, 1699 d. October 4, 1699.

The smallest bell, the Marienglöckle, was cast in 1505 and also taken over from the previous building. The inscription in Gothic minuscule reads anno domini m cccc v ave maria gracia plena dominus .
