The Evangelical Church Annaburg was built around 1500 and is located on the market of the city of Annaburg in the Wittenberg district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Outbuildings

The brick hall from the time the church was built has a three-sided east end. On the north side of the church there is a square tower, the lower part of which is late Gothic . The construction of the tower with hood and lantern date from 1787 . A late Gothic crucifixion relief made of clay is placed outside at the level of the box. The half-timbered extensions on both sides of the tower were also added in 1787. In 1993 the exterior of the building was restored. The north entrance is ogival and has a painted frame. The portal leading into the sacristy is surrounded by painted consecration crosses.

In the nave there is a coffered ceiling with floral painting from the late 17th century. A glazed patron s lodge with two arches facing the nave is located in the basement of the tower above the sacristy. The Saxon spa and state coat of arms is affixed to the parapet . The winged altar with a frame from the Renaissance period dates from 1602. A crucifixion scene is depicted in the main field of the altar. The Gethsemani scene and the crowning of thorns can be seen in the wings, and the Lord's Supper can be seen in the predella . The evangelists are painted in the basket of the wooden pulpit . There is a sound cover over the pulpit. The chalice-shaped sandstone baptism dates back to 1674. On the baluster base there is a donor's coat of arms and early baroque festoons on a round cupa . The three-tower organ front was built at the end of the 18th century. A late Gothic wooden crucifix is located under the south pore of the church.

A wooden lectern with carved branch decoration dates from around 1510 and is now in the parish room of the church.

painting

An epitaph painting from the early 17th century shows the birth of Christ. A painting with the donor family and a crucifixion scene also dates from this period. Another picture shows the donor couple and the raising of Lazarus and is dated to the year 1688. The four pastor portraits in the church date from the 19th century as well as from the years 1688, 1725 and 1760.

Others

An antependium with an embroidery of a crucifix dates from 1685. The church has several baroque chairs . Four of them are provided with embossed leather covers. An inscription tombstone with a coat of arms for Barbara von Kittelde dates from 1581. In the church cemetery there are several sculptural grave monuments from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is under monument protection and is listed in the monument register of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
