Hillentrup Evangelical Church
The Protestant church is a listed church building at Homeiener Str. 3 in Hillentrup , a district of the Dörentrup community in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
A simple, plastered quarry stone building with early Gothic elements was first mentioned in a document around 1260. Around 1300, Ludolf was attested as the first priest. The church was destroyed by fire and pillage in 1424. A host container with the intact hosts was found in the rubble . This was portrayed as a miracle and Hillentrup became a place of pilgrimage . The building was renovated in 1431. The first Protestant pastor, a Johann Cothmann, worked from 1524 to 1566. In 1802 Johann-Markus Oestreich built a new organ . The old church, of which a drawing has been preserved, was demolished in 1899.
The current asymmetrically grouped neo-Gothic hall church was built from 1899 to 1900 by a Böhmer building officer. The apse stands on a polygonal floor plan, the gallery annex has two bays. The tower is on the north side. The construction of hammer-right quarry stone is structured by ashlar edges. The apse is vaulted with ribs and a rising flat ceiling was drawn into the hall. The church was fitted with two new bells in 1924. A renovation was made in 1971, a new organ was installed in 1975. The church tower was renovated in 2009.
