Evangelical Church Welmlingen

The Evangelical Church Welmlingen is located in the Welmlingen district of the southern Baden community of Efringen-Kirchen . A predecessor of the small church from 1723 already existed in the 14th century.

history

The church in Welmlingen as a subsidiary church of Blansingen is already mentioned in the years 1360 to 1370 ("ecclesia Blansingin cum filia Wlingen"). Her patronage of St. Cecilia has been handed down and that her condition in 1720 was so bad that no services could be held. The citizens' requests to the sovereign were answered and in 1723 a new church was built on the square of the old one. The year of the new building indicates today in the round arch above the now walled up side door. Presumably during renovation work before the First World War , the entrance was relocated on the east side under the roof turret. In 1966 the church was given new glazing and a wall mosaic by Jürgen Brodwolf .

description

The small church consists of a rectangular hall building, which is covered with a gable roof. The long sides of the nave have two narrow, rectangular windows. The roof turret has rectangular sound arcades on each side and is covered by an octagonal pyramid roof with a weathercock at its top . The church is covered with a flat wooden ceiling. The benches and interior walls are painted white. A simple altar stands on a slightly raised pedestal, behind which a wooden cross hangs on the wall. There is a baptismal font on the right of the altar and a pulpit on the right. The organ is located on a gallery above the entrance.
