St. Nikolaus (Huttingen)
St. Nikolaus is a Catholic branch church in Efringen-Kirchen .
history
The modern church in the district of Huttingen was built between 1969 and 1970 according to plans by the engineer Adolf Schuler from Weil am Rhein . The financing was made possible by the willingness of parishioners to donate, by grants from the parish and the church authorities. After the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on September 20, 1970, which took place consecration of the church on June 20, 1971, Dean Joseph dirt. A year later, St. Nicholas received a two-part bell.
Description and equipment
The church is located near Lindenplatz in Huttingen. It consists of a wide hall with a gently sloping gable roof and a three-story, open bell tower made of exposed concrete . The tower, which deviates slightly from the vertical on one side, has a simple cross on its facade facing the church.
Inside the church is drawn in with a slightly inclined wooden ceiling. The choir is raised slightly from the rest of the hall over a few steps. The side rooms and the entrance hall of the church are located on the outward-facing parts of the building .
The artist Edelbert Stächelin created the altar and the wall cross made of jasper stones. In addition, a tabernacle and a pulpit complete the equipment. On the left side wall there is a statue of the patron saint, St. Nicholas on a console , to the right of it is a statue of the Virgin Mary with a child.
