Evangelical Hospital Johannis Abbey, Münster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Hospital Johannisstift in the Westphalian city of Münster is the only Protestant hospital in Münster. It has 205 beds and around 6200 inpatients are treated annually.

history

Due to the prince-bishop's history of the city of Münster and as a result of the rule of the Anabaptists , the city's population was almost entirely Catholic until the 19th century. Only with the dissolution of the Prince Diocese of Münster in 1803, when Münster came under Prussian rule, did the Protestant faith spread. In 1863 the first Protestant hospital was founded in the parish of St. Mauritz. Due to the population growth, however, its capacities were no longer sufficient towards the end of the 19th century. Accordingly, in 1907 the foundation stone was laid for a new, larger hospital. Even after its complete renovation in 1988, this building forms the basic building of the Protestant hospital.

Specialist departments and institutions

The hospital is divided into a total of five specialist medical departments and several central medical departments.

The following specialist departments can be found at the Evangelical Hospital Johannisstift:
