Evanton or Baile Eòghainn is a place with 1,379 inhabitants in the Scottish region of Ross-shire , Highland . The place is about 24 km north of Inverness , ten kilometers northwest of Dingwall and 6.5 km southeast of Alness . Evan Fraser von Balconie founded the place in 1807.
