Evaristo Carriego

Evaristo Carriego (born May 7, 1883 in Paraná (Entre Ríos) , † October 13, 1912 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine journalist and writer .

Carriego did not gain national fame through his own literary works, but through Jorge Luis Borges , who wrote a biography about him. Astor Piazzolla in his opera María de Buenos Aires (1968) pays him homage with a "Milonga carrieguera". The composer Eduardo Rovira also contributed to Carriego's fame, he composed a tango entitled “A Evaristo Carrigo”, which is now one of the evergreens .

Carriego died in Buenos Aires on October 13, 1912 at the age of 29 and was buried in the Chacarita cemetery .
