Evelyn Kustatscher

Evelyn Kustatscher (* 1976 in Brixen ) is an Italian paleobotanist from South Tyrol .

Evelyn Kustatscher was already collecting fossils in her youth. She studied paleontology at the University of Ferrara . In 1999 she received her laureate , in 2004 she received her doctorate on plant fossils from the Middle Triassic in the Dolomites . Since 2005 she has been curator for paleontology at the South Tyrol Museum of Nature in Bolzano . In 2009 she was a lecturer in paleobotany at the University of Innsbruck .

Her specialties are fossil plants from the Triassic and Permian. She led a research project on mass extinction at the turn of the Permian / Triassic in terrestrial ecosystems of the Dolomites (The Permian-Triassic ecological crisis in the Dolomites: extinction and recovery dynamics in Terrestrial Ecosystems). As a paleobotanist, she worked with Han van Konijnenburg-van Cittert , among others . She is also interested in other sites of Triassic flora in Europe, references to paleoclimatology and palynology.

Her first descriptions include Asterotheca thalensis that the marattiaceae expects that Cycad Bjuvia thalensis (Kustatscher & Van Konijnenburg-van Cittert 2010), Phlebopteris fiemmensis (Kustatscher, Dellantonio & Van Konijnenburg-van Cittert 2014) and Chiropteris monteagnellii (Kustatscher, Dellantonio & Van Konijnenburg-van Cittert 2014), Cladophlebis ladinica (Kustatscher, Dellantonio & Van Konijnenburg-van Cittert 2014).

In 2014 she received the South Tyrolean Research Prize endowed with 30,000 euros.
