Everard Digby (Esquire)

Everard Digby of Tilton and Digby (* around 1410 - 29 March 1461 ) was an English esquire .

Life

Everard Digby was a son of Simon Digby and Joan, a daughter of Sir James Beler. The Digby family owned lands and estates in Digby and Tilton , Lincolnshire and Stoke Dry in Rutland .

Everard, who was nicknamed Greenleaf , was sheriff of Rutland in 1459 and sat in Parliament as Knight of the Shire for Rutland from 1447 . During the Wars of the Roses , Everard fought for the House of Lancaster and King Henry VI. 1460 at the Battle of Wakefield , 1461 at the Second Battle of St Albans and 1461 at Towton .

Everard fell on March 29, 1461 with three brothers at Towton.

Marriage and offspring

Everard Digby was married to Anne, daughter of Francis Clarke of Whissendine. In some sources, the first name of his wife is also given as Alice or Agnes.

According to the sources, Everard is said to have had a total of seven sons, but not all of them are named.
