Everett Ellsworth Truette
Everett Ellsworth Truette (born March 14, 1861 in Rockland , Massachusetts , † December 16, 1933 in Brookline , Massachusetts) was an American organist , composer, music publisher and author.
Truette studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston from 1878 to 1881 and graduated from Boston University in 1883 . He then went to Europe for two years and studied with Carl August Haupt in Berlin , Alexandre Guilmant in Paris and William Thomas Best in Liverpool and London .
After returning to Boston, he worked as a church organist and organ teacher, composer and music publisher. Between 1892 and 1894 he published the monthly journal The Organ . With Arthur Elson he wrote the book Woman's work in music , which appeared in 1904 (new edition 1931, reprint 1976). He published the book Organ Registration: A comprehensive treatise on the distinctive quality of tone of organ stops ... in 1919 (Reprint 1981). In 1920 he published Schmidt's Standard Organ Collection in two volumes for worship use.
