Evita is a metalcore band from Bristol , United Kingdom . The name of the band is derived from the musical of the same name Evita .

history

At the age of 17, friends Aaron Beider and Jack Sims founded a small instrumental project in August 2006 , which they named Evita. After the band had set up a full line-up , they started the first demo recordings. This was followed in November 2007 with Like An Ocean We Rise Again, the first EP , which was distributed via the British independent label Glasstone Records .

In 2008 the band struggled with some member changes: first guitarist and founding member Jack Sims left the band in March, as it had been more of a hobby for him and, with increasing success, took up too much time, then the band announced the two months later Resignation of drummer Lewis Robbins, who due to lack of time could no longer support the band one hundred percent. Jack could be replaced by Mike Thomson, who had recently introduced himself at a concert of the band as a guitarist and whom they contacted after Sims left. Johno Fisher was introduced as the new drummer in June 2008, after which the band announced a first album.

In November 2008, the band announced that they had signed a record deal with the London-based Basick Records label . The recordings for the first studio album followed between December 2008 and January 2009, which was produced with the help of the former Burning Skies ' guitarist Chuck Creese. In July 2009, appeared with Minutes and Miles , the debut album of the band that musically significantly different from the first EP. While the style of the EP Like An Ocean We Rise Again could still be assigned to deathcore , the band's new album was mainly characterized by elements of melodic metalcore . In October 2009 the band announced their breakup, as lack of time would have made it impossible for the band to continue. In addition, it was no longer possible to cover the band's costs with their own money, in addition to the income from concerts and CD sales. On October 30th, the band gave their last concert in their hometown of Bristol.

In spring 2010 the band announced their reunion, which was followed by a small tour between June and July. Furthermore, the band announced participation in the Ghostfest and the Schools Out For Summer Festival . In early 2011, the band recorded two new songs, which were then available digitally via iTunes . The songs were characterized by clear singing and were much quieter than the previous ones. In July of the same year, the band released together with the one from the county Essex originating hardcore punk band Giants their first split EP which self-titled the bands according to their own band name.
