Kaleli ( Kurmanji : EFSE) is a jesidisches village in the southeast of Turkey . The village is located about 32 km northeast of Nusaybin in the Nusaybin district of the same name in the Mardin province . The place is located in the Tur Abdin mountain range in south-eastern Anatolia .
History and population
The original name of the village is Efşê. The villages were renamed as a result of the Turkishization of geographical names in Turkey . Kaleli is mostly an abandoned village today. The village had an exclusively Yazidi population.
In the 1980s, the population was driven out of the place by the Turkish state. Most of the Yazidis from the town fled to Germany.
In May 2018, a Yazidi mourning house was demolished by workers from the forced administration of the city of Mardin .
