Ewald Drechsel

Ewald Drechsel (born June 25, 1926 in Arzberg (Upper Franconia) ; † June 2, 1990 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

After attending elementary school in Arzberg, Drechsel trained as a businessman. Towards the end of the Second World War he was used in the front line and was a Soviet prisoner of war. After the war he worked temporarily in his parents' business before he was the managing director of a company from 1946 to 1954. In 1952 he became a district councilor, from 1953 to 1954 he was a member of the advisory board for district association matters in Upper Franconia . From 1954 to 1970 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . In 1962 and 1966 he received his seat through a direct mandate in the district of Wunsiedel , Marktredwitz , Rehau , town of Selb (roughly corresponded to the later district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains ). In 1956 he was elected first mayor of the city of Arzberg.
