from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ewald Kaeser (born August 19, 1942 in Bösingen , according to other sources Rheinfelden ; died December 15, 2002 ) was a Swiss writer and journalist .

Life

Ewald Kaeser grew up in Rheinfelden. His father was the trade unionist of the same name . Kaeser studied German with Walter Muschg at the University of Basel . In 1968 he broke off his studies. In the same year he became an editor and journalist for the National-Zeitung . In 1976 he became a member of the Basel AZ editorial team , which he soon left for health reasons. From 1980 he was employed part-time for the Textile Chemistry Paper Union (GTCP) and wrote poetry. He was a co-founder of the Werkstatt Arbeiterkultur (WAK), in which his father also published, who in addition to his trade union activities also worked as a workers' poet.

Kaeser's poetry is described as taciturn, strongly condensed and rhythmically oriented towards jazz. He was considered a jazz connoisseur and worked in a group around Otto Flückiger on the creation of oral history interviews with Swiss jazz pioneers (jazzdocumentation.ch).
