Ewald Kiel

Ewald Kiel (born February 27, 1959 ) is a German school educator and university teacher .

Life

After attending the elementary school in Fürstenberg and the grammar school in Höxter , Kiel first studied German and history and later educational sciences and graduated from both with the first state examination for grammar school teaching. After a stay at the University of California, Los Angeles , where he studied applied linguistics , he completed the 2nd state examination for teaching.

This was followed by a doctorate and habilitation . Since 2004 he has been Professor of School Education at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Kiel is concerned with a. with the development and implementation of a new training concept for student teachers at the LMU Munich as well as with work on the design of learning tasks. He is a consultant for the Council of Europe on the development of Eastern European school systems, particularly in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine.

In order to strengthen the competence of teachers in effective class management and to reduce stressful situations and burdens, Kiel presented the PAUER model. The word PAUER results here as acronym of the five anchor points: P resence, A ACTIVATION, U nterrichtsfluss, E mpathie and R ules.
