Félix Verdejo (born May 19, 1993 in San Juan ) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer.

Amateur career

Verdejo started boxing at the age of nine and won 106 of 123 amateur fights. He won the Pan American Youth Championship 2010 in the Dominican Republic and the American Olympic qualification 2012 in Brazil with victories a. a. against Eduar Marriaga and Wellington Arias . At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he came through victories against Juan Huertas and Ahmed Mejri to the lightweight quarter-finals, where he was defeated by the Ukrainian Vasyl Lomatschenko . He is also the Puerto Rican champion in 2011 and 2012.

Professional career

In December 2012, he played his first professional fight in Las Vegas , which he won by unanimous decision against Leonardo Chavez. In 2013 and 2014 he won each of his 15 fights, 12 of them prematurely. 11 opponents had a positive match record. In 2013 he was voted “Prospect of the Year” by Top Rank Boxing and BoxingScene , and again in 2014 by Top Rank Boxing and ESPN .

In April 2015 he defeated the Mexican Marco López prematurely and thereby became Latin American champion of the WBO . In June 2015 he defended the title with a unanimous victory over the undefeated Ivan Najera (16-0). In December 2015 he defended the title through TKO in the second round against Josenilson Dos Santos (27-3).

In February 2016 he defeated the also unbeaten William Silva (23-0) by unanimous decision. In June 2016 he won his fifth title defense against Juan Martinez (25-2). He won his next fight in February 2017 against Oliver Flores (27-2).

On March 17, 2018 he lost to Antonio Lozada (38-2) by TKO in the tenth round. He played his next fight in April 2019 against Bryan Vázquez (37-3) and won unanimously.
