The Föreningen för Kanot-Idrott , FKI , or in the international context Stockholm Canoe Club , is a canoe club in Stockholm , Sweden . Founded in 1900, it is Sweden's oldest canoe club and existed four years before the national canoe organization Svenska Kanotförbundet was founded . The club has two sections for paddling and sailing canoes .

The club is located on Måsholmen Island, just outside Djurgården in central Stockholm.

The FKI pioneered paddling and sailing canoeing in Sweden, inspired by Swedish naval officer Carl Smith and indirectly by John MacGregor's 1866 canoe tour from Kristiania to Stockholm . A number of club members have built their own innovative canoes such as: B. Sven Thorell , Gerhard Högborg, Arvid Rosengren and Nils-Göran Bennich-Björkman. The first modern racing kayaks as well as the first sailing canoes of the Swedish design (suitable for extended archipelago trips and for overnight stays) come from FKI members.

From 1907 the FKI organized the first Swedish championships in paddling.

Since 1906, the association released the Series Kanotidrott ; the latest edition was published in 2016 on the 150th anniversary of the first canoe in Sweden.
