The five- leaved golden thread ( Coptis quinquefolia ) is a species of the genus Coptis in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).

features

The five-leaf gold thread is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 25 centimeters. It forms a rhizome . The leaves are fingered fivefold. The inflorescence is single-flowered. The bracts are elliptical and white in color. The nectar leaves are spoon-shaped and yellow in color. Your nectarium is almost terminal.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Taiwan and in Japan on the islands of Honshu and Shikoku. It grows in mountain forests.

use

The five-leaf gold thread is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens, bog beds and alpine houses.
