Fifth Beatle
In the course of pop history , the media described the “fifth Beatle” among the Beatles , which consisted of four members, with one exception 15 months immediately after they were founded, as those people who were close to the group and / or were of great importance to the group .
- Neil Aspinall was a school friend of Paul McCartney and George Harrison , who took on assistant duties for the Beatles and can be heard as a musician on various recordings of the Beatles.

- Pete Best was a drummer for the Beatles before Ringo Starr until August 1962.
- Brian Epstein was the Beatles' manager from 1961 to 1967 and an important driving force behind the group's international success.

Further influences of the term
In the episode Lisa as a vegetarian (season 7) of the animated series The Simpsons , Apu claims that he was called the “fifth Beatle”. The figure of Paul McCartney - spoken by himself - confirms this.
Referring to George Martin as the "fifth Beatle", Geoff Emerick , the longstanding sound engineer at EMI , called himself the "sixth Beatle".
