The Prince Trpimir Order with Collar and Star ( Croatian Red kneza Trpimira s ogrlicom i Danicom ) is a state award of the Republic of Croatia .

Foundation and rank

The Order of Merit was founded on April 1, 1995 by Prime Minister Stjepan Mesić . It is named after the Croatian Knes (prince) Trpimir I († 864), who ruled over coastal Croatia (Primorska Hrvatska) from 845 to 864.

The order ranks fifth in the Croatian order system . It is awarded for outstanding contributions to the independence, integrity and international reputation of the Croatian state. Also for the development of relations with other states and for services to the building of the state.

Appearance and wearing style

The medal consists of a square on the tip made of 999 silver with an edge length of 57 mm. Its base is enamelled in red . Above it lies silver Croatian wickerwork over the entire height and width , which surrounds a round medallion with a diameter of 32 mm in the middle . The medallion is enamelled in white and shows an equestrian representation of Prince Trpimir I. The medallion is surrounded by a narrow wreath of Croatian wickerwork, on the lower edge of which the inscription TRPIMIR can be read. At the top of the order there is a hanging device for the collar, also decorated with Croatian wickerwork.

The lapel is smooth and shows the engraved Croatian wickerwork in the middle and the inscription REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA (REPUBLIC OF CROATIA).

The collar is 36 mm wide and 600 mm long and has the red and silver checkerboard pattern of the Croatian coat of arms .

The breast star , which is worn on the left side of the breast, is also made of 999 silver, has a diameter of 80 mm and has eight rays. Between the eight longer rays there are a total of eight shorter rays that are forked at the ends. The 16 rays all end in the center of the star on the gilded outer edge of an identical but smaller medallion, as can be seen on the ribbon medallion. On the smooth back there is a vertical pin with a locking hook.

The miniature belonging to the medal is worn on the left side of the chest, either as a ribbon buckle with a miniature of the medal or as a ribbon medal in the reduced form of the breast star.
