The Fürstenteich is a dam near Silberhütte in Saxony-Anhalt . It is an earth dam with a core seal. The Teufelsbach is dammed .

construction

The dam was founded on sedimented clay slate and has an inner seal made of organically interspersed clays (turf sods). In the course of the renovation, the old air-side approx. 70 cm thick cover layer was removed and poured in layers of clay slate material. Above this, a 10 cm thick layer of topsoil with lawn seed forms the end. On the water side, 60 cm was removed and then an equally thick protective layer of gravel was applied to a 30 cm thick layer of chippings. The dam was raised by 1 m in the course of the renovations. After removal of 90 cm of the old dam has been prepared by Planum a one meter wide fro seal spur inserted. This extends to the cohesive soil of the old dam core.

The old wooden gutter is still there, but no longer functional. It is now connected to the seepage water measuring shaft by a steel pipe. In the course of the construction work in 1903/04, a cast-iron siphon line was laid, which crossed the flood relief system (HWE). The siphon line has a vent on the top of the dam that is guided in concrete rings. In 1990 the cast iron pipe was separated from the HWE and since then has been flowing through a new outlet in the stilling basin of the HWE. The HWE consists of a reinforced concrete channel divided into 18 fields. The total length of the HWE is around 95 m.

history

The pond was 1729 Pochwerksteich built and delivered, along with the higher Teufelsteich , supplement water for lying in the same place Silberhütte. The embankments were relatively steep with a slope of 1: 1.7 until the renovation, which began in 1984. The Fürstenteich was not connected to the Unterharzer pond and ditch system until 1903/04, when the dam was raised for the first time. The Silberhütter Kunstgraben was extended for the last time and now ended in the catchment area of the Teufelsteich, the Siebengrund . The extension got the name Siebengründer Graben , at the same time the section to Neudorf was drained. In addition to the Teufelsteich, the Fürstenteich and the Silberhütter Pochwerksteich were also supplied with water from the Lude and Rödelbachgraben . When the Silberhütte went bankrupt in 1937 , electricity was still generated until 1939 and then the ditch drained.

The pond was used for drinking water from 1937 to 1997. From 1980 the first defects appeared on the dam, which is now heavily overgrown with bushes and trees. The bottom outlet was no longer functional and there were seepage points. From 1984 to 1987 the dam was renovated and the embankment was flattened to a 1: 2 slope. The last renovation took place in 1997 and 1999. At first, a new bottom outlet was integrated or the dam crown fastening was renewed - this was accompanied by a drop in the reservoir level by one meter due to settlement phenomena on the water-side dam.

The pond can be reached from the nearby Teufelsteich via hiking trails and is used for water management purposes, fishing and local recreation.
