Fail Blog (spelling: FAIL Blog) is a blog that started in January 2008. The blog published photos of failed projects, often to satisfy the Schadenfreude of the viewer. Fail Blog was instrumental in spreading the Internet “fail” phenomenon. Fail Blog was number 801 worldwide in the Alexa Traffic Rank in early 2011 .

history

The blog's popularity has grown steadily since its inception . In May 2008 the blog was sold to Pet Holdings Inc.

The main content of the page consists of photos and videos of people (or objects) who fail to perform any operation. The posts are each headed with headings such as “fail”, “epic fail”, “ X Fail”, or “You're doin 'it wrong” (where X is the person's activity). Occasionally there are also cases that are titled "win". The first "Fail" was uploaded to the site on January 3rd, 2008. Since then, the blog has grown rapidly. The nature of pictures and videos has increasingly become a popular internet phenomenon that has been copied from many other internet sites.

Awards

Fail Blog won a Webby Award in the People's Voice categories of humor and weird in 2009 .

Criticism and problems

In July 2009, Fail Blog removed a screenshot on the subject of "Most Individuals Killed in A Terrorist Attack" including a "Break-this-record" link at the request of Guinness World Records , as the screenshot contained the protected logo of Guinness World Records.

Fail Blog occasionally had problems with the blog's video offering on YouTube , whereupon the videos were published on the Viddler video platform. However, the YouTube channel has been restored so that videos from the blog can still be viewed there. In early October 2009, Fail Blog added links to all video posts to other video platforms that hosted the same video . Fail Blog's YouTube channel was suspended for several hours on December 7, 2010 due to multiple complaints about copyright infringement .
