history

After AD Municipal Puntarenas and 2003 AD Municipal Osa relegated to the second division and the province of Puntarenas no longer had a top division club, the businessmen Eduardo Li Sánchez and Adrián Castro took the initiative and founded Puntarenas FC on June 30, 2004. From 2004 the Puntarenas FC was able to establish itself well in the top division. Successes were winning the UNCAF-Copa Interclubes and the runner-up in 2009.

After 10 years with highs and lows in the Primera División de Costa Rica, Puntarenas FC rose to the Liga de Ascenso-Segunda División on April 23, 2014 .

Stadion

The club plays its games in the municipal Estadio Miguel "Lito" Pérez, which is also known as "Olla Mágica" (pressure cooker). The nickname developed due to the high temperatures and the incessant support during the home games from their own fan group "La Samba Primeira" .
