FJAAK is a Berlin techno project that mainly appears as a live act . It consists of Felix Wagner and Aaron Röbig.

Career

FJAAK was founded in 2009 by the Berlin district of Spandau originating F elix Wagner, J ohannes Wagner, Aa ron Röbig and K founded evin Kozicki. The name FJAAK is made up of the first letters of the four men.

In their childhood all of them played classical instruments such as piano or guitar. They became friends and spent most of their free time playing computer games. When they received the Ableton Live music program from a friend , they were fascinated by the many possibilities it offered and began to experiment with music production themselves. However, they quickly realized that they enjoyed hardware-based music production more, which is why they started working with samplers and drum computers early on . In the early days, they often played at private parties and at raves that were not registered (sometimes organized by themselves) in Spandau and the surrounding area.

At the age of 16 Kozicki made his first official appearance in the Berlin club Rekorder, but at that time as a tech house DJ with tracks by other artists. Since it met with a positive response from the guests, it was booked again by the organizer and put on again a week later. This time, however, Felix Wagner and Röbig were there, for whom it was also the first live performance. Johannes Wagner dropped out of the group during the learning phase for the Abitur . However, he is still a DJ and regularly plays as J.Manuel with the format WERK in the techno club : // about blank in Friedrichshain .

After passing the Abitur, the trio that has now formed began to publish self-produced music for the first time in 2012. Her first works were published by Baalsaal Music , Fritz Kalkbrenner's label at the time . They moved into a shared apartment in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg , into which they integrated a recording studio. Kozicki began studying industrial engineering , while Röbig and Wagner decided to study sound engineering . In 2013 they were booked for the first time for Berghain in Berlin, one of the oldest and most famous techno clubs in the world, which ultimately marked the start of their career. The following summer they were signed by the Berlin techno duo Modeselektor at their label 50 Weapons . Larger club and festival appearances followed.

In 2017 the debut album FJAAK was released on Modeselector's label Monkeytown , as the sub-label 50 Weapons has since been dissolved.

In January 2019 it was announced that Kevin Kozicki had left FJAAK, who have been working as a duo ever since. He stated that he wanted to start a new group.
