The FU-Fighters are the Robocup team of the Free University of Berlin . The team plays since 1999 active in the robot soccer in the league Small-Size League and Middle Size League with. The mobile robots were developed by scientists and students from the University's Computer Science Institute , while the machines play football on the basis of artificial intelligence .

The autonomous robots of the “middle-size league” carry their own video camera. The data is processed by a laptop. The computer calculates the position of the robot in the field and the best strategy (in combination with the other robots) and controls the motors and other actuators of the system. All of this happens in real time . Such a team of autonomous robots can be better described as a multi-robot .

Since 2006 the FU-Fighters team started developing autonomous vehicles. " Spirit of Berlin ", the FU Berlin's robotic car, is the first driverless car built in Berlin.
