The RoboCup German Open are annual international competitions in the field of mobile robotics . At the beginning, one of the main focuses of the competition was leagues in which robots play soccer against each other (see robot soccer ). Competitions on search and rescue robots (RoboCup Rescue) and service robots (RoboCup @ Home) are now an integral part of the event.

From 2001 to 2005 these took place in the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in Paderborn . No German Open took place in 2006, as the RoboCup World Championships took place in Bremen that year. From 2007 to 2009 the RoboCup German Open took place in spring at the Hanover Fair . The German Open has been taking place at Messe Magdeburg since 2010.
