The Fair Magdeburg is the exhibition center of the state capital Magdeburg , Saxony-Anhalt . It is operated by the Messe- und Veranstaltungsgesellschaft Magdeburg GmbH (MVGM). With an area of 12,000 m², it is the largest exhibition center in the region.
history
In Magdeburg, trade fair events can be traced back to the beginnings of the city. They took place in the small trading area at the ford. The city grew through industrialization and a supraregional communication center was needed. A trade fair and exhibition center was built on the Rotehorn Island site by 1922. The most successful exhibition was the international theater exhibition in 1927, for which the ensemble of the Magdeburg city hall and the observation tower were created. The site was largely destroyed by the destruction in World War II.
The Magdeburg trade fair was inaugurated in April 1999 on the occasion of the 25th Federal Garden Show in Elbauenpark . The architectural style is based on Heinrich Tessenow's simple architectural style with wood, steel and glass.
Fairground
The exhibition grounds are a total of 12,000 m² on the edge of the Elbauenpark . It consists of three halls, two large, adjacent halls (3000 m² each), connected by a covered open space, and a smaller hall (2000 m²). The spacious parking lot is located directly at the fair and offers space for around 1,600 vehicles. The bicycle parking lot in the form of a leaning bar in front of the entrance holds around 50 bikes. There are other bicycle parking facilities at the surrounding fences and posts, as well as at the entrances to the Elbauenpark with a little walk.

Messe Magdeburg is a mixture of exhibition and conference center. The main use of the halls is for various exhibitions, congresses, meetings and conferences. But they are also used for other events, for example balls, concerts and discos.

The Magdeburg Exhibition Center is located on Tessenowstrasse near Jerichower Strasse ( B 1 ). It is connected to public transport via tram lines 5 and 6 and bus number 51 (stop: Messegelände / Elbauenpark).
Close to the fair are the Elbauenpark , the Herrenkrugpark , the Nemo adventure pool and the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences .
