Fabian Kalsow
Fabian Kalsow (born September 8, 1981 in Oldenburg in Holstein ) is a German motorboat pilot who was active in the F1H2O (Formula 1) .
Athletic career
Along with former world champion Michael Werner, Kalsow is one of the most successful German motorboat pilots. At the age of 18, Fabian Kalsow was given a chance in racing at an ADAC inspection course . He was there several times youth cup winner. In 2003 he won the German championship title and moved to the Formula 3 World Championship a year later. There he was sixth overall. His best placement was a 2nd place at the Hungarian Grand Prix . In 2005 he made the leap into F1H2O, the Formula 1 of motor boating. There he became part of the Tamoil F1 team led by Guido Cappellini , the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time, and Ivan Brigada .
In his first season he drove to points several times and was awarded the title of best newcomer ("Rookie of the year 2005"). In addition, his team achieved the title of team world champion in his first year in Formula 1 thanks to the outstanding performance of Guido Cappellini. In 2006 he drove with similar performances as in 2005 in the F1H2O. Due to discrepancies in marketing, Kalsow did not take part in the F1H2O in 2007. In 2008 he started as part of a new team in the last race. He also took part in Formula 1 in 2009 and 2010 and was able to achieve overall positions 13 and 12 respectively.
Professional background
Kalsow is a trained car mechanic , runs an insurance agency and a powerboat ride-sharing business.
