Fabio dos Santos Barbosa , short Fabio Santos (born October 9, 1980 in Campina Grande ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

Santos' professional career began in 1999 in his Brazilian homeland at EC Santo André . He was there for two seasons before moving to Rio Branco EC for a year and then to AD São Caetano for two years . For the 2004/05 season he tried the step into a European league for the first time and joined the Portuguese club Nacional Funchal (Madeira). But after a year he moved back to Brazil and signed with Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . During the winter break of the 2006/07 season he decided to play in Europe for the second time and moved to Olympique Lyon in France for € 4.2 million . He had his first use on February 10, 2007 in the league game against FC Lorient . In the first year there he won the championship and the Supercup . But even the second trip to Europe was not successful from Santos' point of view and so his club decided to start a loan deal. During the winter break of the 2007/08 season he was awarded to São Paulo FC . In the summer of 2008 he returned to Lyon. For the 2009/10 season he moved to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro on a free transfer . After just one league game, he moved to league competitor and ex-club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte. There he played two more games before ending his active career in May 2010.
