Fabrice Joêl Roger Leggeri (born March 28, 1968 ) is a French administrative officer and director of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex .

Career

Fabrice Leggeri received a first degree in history from the University of Paris from 1989 to 1990. The following year he obtained a master's degree from the same university and again a year later a postgraduate diploma in contemporary history. From 1990 to 1992 he was a graduate of the Institut d'études politiques de Paris . Between 1989 and 1993 he was a graduate of the École normal supérieure (ENS) and from 1994 to 1996 he was a graduate of the École nationale d'administration (ENA).

After his first professional position in the French Ministry of the Interior , he served as a national expert for the EU Commission from 2001 , and from 2002 in the project area “Management of the EU External Borders”, which recommended the establishment of Frontex. From 2003 to 2007 he filled the position of Vice- Prefect in two French regions . From 2007–2011 he was a member of the French Ministère de la Défense in the department for international and European law. In 2011 he went to the French Embassy in Seoul as an envoy . In August 2013 he returned to the French Ministry of the Interior and headed the “Irregular Migration” department related to the Schengen Agreement and the problem area of ​​illegal immigration .

On January 16, 2015, he succeeded the Finn Ilkka Laitinen as director of Frontex, which is based in Warsaw .
