Fabricio Fabio Fuentes (born October 13, 1976 in Río Cuarto ) is a former Argentine football player . He also has an Italian passport.

Player career

biography

Fabricio Fuentes has already played in several top leagues in South America and Europe. He began his career with the Newell's Old Boys from his home in Argentina. After only one season in the first team (1996) he went to the then second division Quilmes Atlético Club . There he was able to convince and in 1998 returned to the "Old Boys". After another three years he moved again within the Argentine league. He was drawn to Vélez Sársfield . Two years later (2003) followed a short guest appearance at the French first division club EA Guingamp . This failed, however, whereupon he returned to Vélez in the 2004/2005 season.

For the 2005/2006 season, Fabricio Fuentes changed country and league again to join the Mexican first division club Atlas Guadalajara . In the summer of 2006 he dared the second attempt in a top European league when the Chilean Manuel Pellegrini brought him to Villarreal . There he became a regular player straight away in the 2006/07 season. At the end of the season, he and his team qualified for the UEFA Cup . He was seriously injured in January 2008 and was out for the rest of the season. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season he was mostly on the bench, but at the beginning of 2009 he regained his permanent place in the team. In the last season games, however, he did not get a chance. This continued in the following season.

At the beginning of 2010 Fuentes left Spain and returned to Atlas. There he became a regular in the defense again. After a year he switched to the Newell's Old Boys, where he soon ended his career.

International

In 2005, Fabricio Fuentes played his only international match against Mexico .
