The Society for Gender Studies / Gender Studies Association (Gender e.V.) is a scientific association for the field of gender research . It was founded in 2010 in Berlin .

Foundation, goals, activities

In January 2010, 204 scientists and students founded the Gender Studies Association at the Technical University of Berlin . The founding members include the Centers for Gender Studies at the TU and the Humboldt University Berlin , the University of Siegen and the University of Luxembourg . The founding was supported by the umbrella organization conference of institutions for women and gender studies in German-speaking countries (KEG, short: gender conference ). Members of the professional society come from all academic fields. The professional society works closely with the Swiss scientific society in gender studies.

The goals include the further development of gender research as a separate discipline in German-speaking countries, the support of mutual networking and information for researchers and teachers in this transdisciplinary research area, the promotion of international cooperation, a strengthening of the visibility of gender studies and the promotion of young academics.

The professional society Gender Studies organizes every year a scientific meeting with changing priorities. The 4th annual conference in February 2014 at the University of Paderborn has the topic Knowledge, Knowledge, Interventions - Gender Studies Perspectives .
