Silke Wenk
Silke Wenk (born January 6, 1949 in Waldshut ) is a German art historian .
life and work
Silke Wenk studied art history, sociology and philosophy in Freiburg and Berlin . In 1980 she received her doctorate from the University of Bremen .
After completing his studies, Wenk worked in exhibitions and art education. She had lectureships at various universities. From 1984 to 1990 she worked as a research assistant at the Berlin University of the Arts .
Wenk completed his habilitation at the University of Hamburg with the font Petrified Femininity. Allegories in Modern Sculpture .
Between 1988 and 1993 Silke Wenk was visiting professor at the University of Kassel , Technical University of Braunschweig , the University of California, Davis and the University of Tübingen .
In 1993 she became professor for the theory and history of art and visual culture as well as art and cultural studies gender studies at the University of Oldenburg . From 2005 to 2010 she was also the director of the Institute for Cultural Studies: Art, Textile, Media .
