from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Specialist for water management is an apprenticeship that is tailored to the needs of public water management and environmental administrations in Germany. The national professional profile was created by the Federal Institute for Vocational Training on July 21, 2000. The job description was created analogously to the profession of road and traffic technology specialist from the precursors of road construction technician ( Hesse ) and planning technician ( Rhineland-Palatinate )

Apprenticeships for the job are almost exclusively offered by the public sector, as engineering offices and civil engineering companies cannot usually cover the entire training catalog. The training lasts three years and takes place at the company and vocational school. There are no specializations in subjects or areas of focus. The learning content of the first year of training is identical to the content of the profession of road and traffic technology specialist.

The job description includes the activities of planning, construction, operation and maintenance of water supply and disposal systems as well as the implementation of water samples. This requires structural calculations, constructions, surveying , building permits and the consideration of nature conservation.

If, after passing the final examination , they are accepted into the public service , road and traffic technology specialists are employed as technical employees under the collective agreement . The professional qualification entitles the holder to study civil engineering in the field of civil engineering .
