The technical school for socio-educational professions was a school in Darmstadt .

history

In 1917, the Alice women's association founded a technical school for kindergarten teachers and after- school care workers in Martinstrasse. Since 1920 the school has been jointly supported by the city of Darmstadt and the state of Hesse . In 1934 the technical college was nationalized and integrated into the Eleanor School . In 1944 the technical school was relocated to Bensheim and closed in 1945.

In 1947 the technical school in Darmstadt was reopened. From 1947 to 1956 she was housed in the former Jagdhof at Alexanderstraße 35. The training kindergarten had been in the Koch'schen Haus at Viktoriastraße 49 since 1949. In 1956, the technical school was relocated to Fichteburg at 33 Fichtestraße. In October 1964 the training of youth leaders began. At the same time, a branch of the technical school was upgraded to a higher technical school . The new training course was carried out in the neighborhood home at Heidelberger Strasse 56. In May 1967, a new building at Martinspfad 140 was put into operation. The kindergarten teachers' seminar with a kindergarten and a daycare center and the seminar for youth leaders were housed in the new building. There was also a boarding school for foreign students. In 1971, the higher technical college was integrated into the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences as a social pedagogy department . The technical school and the buildings on Martinspfad were taken over by the city and integrated into the Alice Eleonore School as the social pedagogy department .

Since 1991 the former boarding school has been used as a guest house for the city of Darmstadt and as a dormitory for nursing students.
