Flagpole of Jeddah
The flagpole of Jeddah ( Arabic سارية العلم بجدة, DMG Sāriyat al-ʿalam bi-Ǧidda ) was a flagpole completed in 2014 in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah and has since been the tallest free-standing flagpole in the world.

The flagpole is 171 meters or 561 feet tall, higher than the previously tallest flagpole in Dushanbe at 165 meters . It stands in the center of King Abdullah Square, a roundabout , and was inaugurated on September 23, 2014, the 84th national day of Saudi Arabia. He is hoisted with the Saudi Arabian state flag . The flag has a size of 49.5 meters by 33 meters and thus an area of 1635 square meters. It weighs about 570 kilograms. The flagpole is illuminated by thirteen spotlights that represent the thirteen Saudi Arabian provinces . A total of around 500 tons of steel were processed. The shaft has a slightly conical shape that tapers from 5 m in diameter at the base to 2 m at the tip. It contains the technical elements such as maintenance stairs and the mechanism for raising the flag.
