Faik Süleyman Pascha (* 1876 in Istanbul ; † 1916 ) was a Turkish general during the Ottoman Empire .

Military career

Süleyman entered the Mekteb-i Harbiye Military Academy on May 16, 1894 . In 1899 he graduated from the rank of captain . In 1904 he was promoted to 2nd commander of the units in Thessaloniki . At the age of 38 he was promoted to corps commandant in 1914 .

Freemasonry

Faik Süleyman Pascha was the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Turkey from 1910 to 1912 and from 1915 to 1918 . However, he was only able to exercise his role as grandmaster on the Caucasian front until his death. Mehmet Cevat Bey represented him from 1916 to 1918 until the new election.

With the outbreak of the Balkan War , the previous Grand Master Talat Pascha resigned, as his work as Interior Minister of Turkey occupied him fully. His successor was corps commander Sulejman Faik Bey, master of the chair of the Masonic lodge Sija i Schark in Kadiköj. From this point on, the Young Turkish influence of the grand lodge receded more and more. Political struggles in parliament led to the denunciation of Freemasonry by the political opposition, who had translations of the works from the Taxil hoax distributed.

Sulejman Faik Bey's successor was Dr. Mehmed Ali Bey elected.
