Fairhope is a city on Mobile Bay in Baldwin County in the US state of Alabama . According to an estimate from 2005, Fairhope had 15,391 inhabitants on an area of 28.5 km². The city is located at the geographical coordinates of 30.51 ° North, 87.88 ° West.
The city is a resort. For example, water sports are offered. There is also an artist community, some old warehouses and many boutiques. The streets are decorated with flowers. The flowers change with the season.
The climate is sub-tropical. The city produces four crops a year: usually potatoes, corn, soybeans, and watermelons.
Demographics
At the 2000 census, Fairhope had 12,480 residents, spread across 5345 households and 3575 families. The population density was thus 438.1 inhabitants / km². 90.22% of the population were white, 7.79% were African American. Children under the age of 18 lived in 27% of households. The median income was $ 42,913 per household, with 7.5% of the population living below the poverty line .
