Faissal Ebnoutalib (born November 20, 1970 in Nador , Morocco ) is a Moroccan-born Taekwondo athlete and trainer who won Olympic silver for Germany in 2000.

career

After his successful career as an athlete, Faissal Ebnoutalib now works as a Taekwondo trainer. Ebnoutalib began to train Taekwondo at the age of five and started for the Moroccan national team at the age of 15. In 1990 he moved to Germany, where he further professionalized his sporting activities together with his brother Mohamed Ebnoutalib , who later became vice world champion in 2003. In 1997 Ebnoutalib acquired German citizenship and then started for the German National Taekwondo Team ( DTU ).

Ebnoutalib is married, has three children and holds the 4th Dan ( WTF Taekwondo). In addition to Taekwondo, he operates a. a. Athletics, boxing and jogging to compensate.

Olympic and international successes

Ebnoutalib achieved his greatest international success at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , where he won the first Olympic medal in Taekwondo for Germany in the middleweight division (up to 80 kg) with silver. In the final he was defeated on points (1: 3) to the Cuban World Cup winner Angel Valodia Matos .

Furthermore, Ebnoutalib was European champion up to 80 kg in Patras in 2000 . At the 1999 World Championships in Canada, he won the bronze medal. At the World Cup in 1998 he finished second in Stuttgart.
