Air treatment systems

Air conditioning systems for rail vehicles increase passenger comfort through ventilation, cooling, heating and filtering. The main parameters are temperature, air humidity, thermal radiation (surface temperature and passage through windows), air speed in the passenger compartment and the sound level. The air conditioning systems are adapted to their place of use (geographical location) and the type of application (tram, underground, regional train or high-speed train). They are also referred to as HVAC systems (from "Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning") or HVAC systems (from "Heating, ventilation, air conditioning").

The systems generally consist of the following elements:

  • Air conditioning unit for the passenger compartment and driver's cab / driver's cab
  • Air circulation systems (fresh air supply with partial reuse of room air)
  • Distribution of treated air (supply air duct system)
  • Exhaust air (with partial extraction of room air)
  • Control system (climate controller with software, sensors and display systems)
  • Post-heating (floor heating, sewer heating)
  • Electrics (electrical switchboard, converter for electrical power)

Pressure protection devices

Pressure protection devices for pressurized rail vehicles protect passengers from pressure waves that occur when driving through tunnels or when trains meet. Their importance increases with the speed of the trains and is therefore absolutely necessary for trains with high and super high speeds (over 300 km / h).

history

Faiveley Transport Leipzig has its origins in Hagenuk GmbH from Kiel and MAB Schkeuditz . Hagenuk was founded in 1899 as Neufeldt & Kuhnke . In 1989 the vehicle air conditioning division was spun off as Hagenuk Fahrzeugklima GmbH and in 1991 took over the rail vehicle products division of the former MAB Schkeuditz. The MAB was created in 1947 through the nationalization of the Schkeuditz aircraft repair workshop and was the largest operation of the VEB Kombinate Luft- und Kältetechnik (ILKA).

In 1995, Hagenuk Fahrzeugklima GmbH was acquired by Faiveley SA Saint Denis (France). In 2001 the company was restructured and renamed HFG HVAC Faiveley GmbH and Co. KG , followed in 2005 by a further change of name to Faiveley Transport Leipzig GmbH and Co. KG .
