Fakhreddine Ben Youssef ( Arabic فخر الدين بن يوسف, DMG Faḫr ad-Dīn b. Yūsuf ; * June 23, 1991 in Tunis ) is a Tunisian football player . The striker has been under contract with the Saudi club al-Ettifaq since 2018 and plays for the Tunisian national team .
Career
society
Ben Youssef's club career began with the Tunisian first division club CS Sfax , for whom he scored 13 goals in 73 league games between 2011 and 2015. With the club he was Tunisian champion in the 2012/13 season . He was later awarded to the French club FC Metz in Ligue 2 . In total, he only played eight times for the club, including two games in the second team, and could not score a goal.
In the summer of 2016, Ben Youssef moved to the Tunisian first division club Espérance Tunis , with whom he became Tunisian champion a year later. By the winter break of the 2017/18 season, he played 41 games for the club and scored 17 goals. He then moved to the first Saudi league to al-Ettifaq in Dammam , for which he has been running ever since.
National team
Ben Youssef has played for Tunisia's senior team since 2012. He scored his first international goal on December 30, 2012 in a 2-1 friendly win against Iraq.
With the national team he qualified for the Africa Cup 2015 . In qualifying he scored two goals. First in the game against Sierra Leone , where he scored the 2-2 final score. He then scored the decisive goal against Egypt to make it 1-0. In the tournament, the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the hosts from Equatorial Guinea .
In 2017 the team qualified again for the Africa Cup in Gabon . As two years before, the team was eliminated again in the quarter-finals, this time against the later third-placed from Burkina Faso .
In 2018, Ben Youssef made it into the Tunisian squad for the World Cup . He was in the starting eleven in all three preliminary round games and scored the interim 1-1 in the last group game, the 2-1 against Panama , which meant the 2,500th goal at a World Cup. The team finished the tournament in third place in Group G .
