The Falkenbergs idrottsplats ( German Falkenberg-Sportplatz , in short: Falkenbergs IP ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Swedish city of Falkenberg , in the province of Halland County . The sports facility with today 4,000 seats was opened in 1921 in the presence of Crown Prince Gustav VI. Adolf of Sweden opened under the name Föreningen Falkenbergs Idrottsplats . Until 2017 it was the home of the football clubs Falkenbergs FF , IF Böljan and Rinia IF . The Falkenbergs IK athletics club also uses the facility.
The covered grandstand has 877 seats on wooden benches. On the back straight there are concrete trusses with standing room. The curves are undeveloped. Within the last few years the stadium has been equipped with a floodlight system with 1000 lux illuminance . An athletics facility with a six-lane tartan track runs around the natural turf playing field . Behind the south curve of the facility are two training fields with a playing field size of 100 × 60 meters, one with artificial turf and floodlights. Next to it is a field with mini-fields. The space behind the north curve is the location of parking lots. The rooms of the stadium are u. a. equipped with 12 changing rooms, three offices and two saunas .
At the end of 2013, Falkenbergs FF achieved promotion to the highest Swedish league, the Fotbollsallsvenskan, for the first time . The requirements for stadiums of the Allsvenskan will increase from 2014. So z. B. the playing field are 105 × 65-68 meters in size and can be played on from March to November. This would require underfloor heating . In addition, the floodlights must be sufficient for television broadcasts. A minimum of 3,000 covered seats are required as well as adequate changing rooms, toilets and medical facilities for doping tests. Since the Falkenbergs IP is no longer up to date in terms of size, equipment and comfort, a new stadium at the Kristineslätt location or a renovation is under discussion.
Since 2017, the Falkenbergs FF and IF Böljan have played their home games in April of that year, the Falcon alcohol fri arena with 5 565 seats.
