Hansen Family Prize
The Hansen Family Prize was founded in 1999 by the chemist and manager Kurt Hansen . The award is given to research work in German-speaking countries of particular scientific importance in the field of natural sciences and medicine, especially in new areas such as brain research and genetics. The prize is awarded every two years, alternating with the Otto Bayer Prize , and is endowed with € 75,000.
For Kurt Hansen (1910–2002), Chairman of Bayer AG from 1962 to 1974 , the promotion of research in the natural sciences and medicine was of central importance.
The Hansen Family Prize is awarded by the Bayer Science & Education Foundation .
