Otto Bayer Prize

The Otto Bayer Prize was donated by Otto Bayer (1902–1982), who headed research at Bayer AG for many years , as a disposition in his will. Bayer, who is not related to the company's founders, is considered the inventor of polyurethane chemistry.

The Otto Bayer Prize, established in 1984, is endowed with 75,000 euros (as of 2018) and was initially awarded annually and since 1996 every two years - alternating with the Hansen Family Prize - to scientists in German-speaking countries for outstanding research achievements in future-oriented Areas of chemistry and biochemistry .

The Otto Bayer Prize is awarded by the Bayer Science & Education Foundation .
