Klaus Hahlbrock

Klaus Hahlbrock (born November 4, 1935 in Hameln ) is a German biochemist . From 1983 to 2002 he was director at the Max Planck Institute for Breeding Research in Cologne and from 1996 Vice President of the Max Planck Society .

Life

Hahlbrock studied chemistry and in 1965 at the University of Freiburg Dr. rer. nat. PhD . From 1967 to 1968, he was a postdoctoral researcher at UC Davis with Eric E. Conn. He then completed his habilitation and became a professor of biochemistry in Freiburg. In 1983 he moved to the Max Planck Society and became director at the Max Planck Institute for Breeding Research in Cologne. From 1996 until his retirement in 2002, he also served as Vice President of the MPG.

From 2004 to 2007 he was chairman of the Hinterzarten-Breitnau local group of the Black Forest Association .
