The Familienbad Ohlsdorf is a public swimming pool in the Hamburg district of Ohlsdorf . It was opened in 1927 as a purely open-air swimming pool , as the first institution without strict gender segregation, as the name "family pool " suggests. The listed cash desk building by Fritz Schumacher directly opposite the Ohlsdorf U and S-Bahn station also dates back to the time it was built .

The system was initially operated with river water from the nearby Alster ; only in 1962 was the supply switched to deep water due to the increasing pollution of the river . Also in the 1960s, the area was redesigned and the original pool was replaced by two smaller swimmer and non-swimmer pools and a children's paddling pool, and slides and a diving platform were added. In 1972 an indoor swimming pool with a 25-meter pool was added.

In 2008, the municipal operating company, Bäderland Hamburg, presented a redevelopment concept that called for the demolition of the previous open-air swimming pool and a partial sale of the site in order to finance a new hall with the proceeds. After public protests against the closure and years of negotiations between the Bäderland, the city administration and a citizens' initiative, the outdoor pool was closed and demolished after the end of the 2015 season. In 2019, the new indoor pool was opened, which now has a 50-meter lane and a smaller course pool with a lifting floor and whose glass south side can be opened to the neighboring lawn.
