Irina Georgijewna Gorjatschewa ( Russian Ирина Георгиевна Горячева ; born May 30, 1947 in Sverdlovsk ) is a Soviet - Russian physicist and university professor .

Life

Goryacheva graduated from secondary school No. 16 in Tolyatti in 1965 with a gold medal. She then studied at the Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU) in the mechanical - mathematical faculty at the chair for plasticity theory , graduating in 1970. There followed the traineeship with Lev Alexandrovich Galin (graduating in 1973).

Since 1973 Goryacheva has worked at the Moscow Institute for Problems of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)) in the Laboratory of Tribology , which she has headed since 1996. In 1974, she successfully defended her dissertation on rolling friction , taking into account slip and viscoelasticity, for her doctorate as a candidate in physical- mathematical sciences. She examined the various friction mechanisms as well as the interaction mechanisms of the elastic and viscoelastic media and made important contributions to the theoretical understanding.

1988 defended Goryacheva successfully her doctoral dissertation on contact problems in tribology for promotion to Doctor of Physics and Mathematics. She then became professor of the Chair of Plasticity Theory at MGU and the Chair of Mechanics of Control Systems at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MFTI). In 1997 she was elected a corresponding member and in 2003 a full member of RAN.

Goryacheva is the chair of the Joint Scientific Council on Tribology of RAN, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Union of Scientific and Technical Associations. In 2011 she became the chair of the Russian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics .
