from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Far Eastern Freight Conference (FEFC) was an existing 1879-2008 liner conference . The conference , founded as the Agreement for the Working of the China and Japan Trade, Outward and Homeward , was the second oldest association of its kind.

history

On September 1, 1879, nine contract partners, under the leadership of the shipping agent and owner John Samuel Swire, founded the Agreement for the Working of the China and Japan Trade, Outward and Homeward . The line merger, to which the British shipping companies P&O , Blue Funnel Line , Glen Line , Shire Line , Castle Line and Ben Line , as well as the French shipping company Messageries Maritimes belonged, provided a mutually binding uniform tariff system for the various loads and services of liner shipping between Europe and the ports of the Far East.

It was not until 1941 that the conference was given the current name of the Far Eastern Freight Conference (FEFC).

The conference ceased its work on October 17, 2008.
