Farhad Darya , actually Farhad Dasher (born September 22, 1962 in Gozargah, Kabul ) is an Afghan singer, composer and poet. Darya is known in Central Asia , Iran , Pakistan , India , and also in Germany , Denmark , Italy , Australia , Canada , the USA and Great Britain . Darya sings in Dari , Pashto , Uzbek and Hindi .

biography

Darya's parents were Pashtuns . Darya went to the shear-chan school in Kunduz (which was named after his grandfather Sher Khan ) when he started his first band Nayestan (literally Nay pipe and estan or istan land; here alluding to musical instruments such as e.g. Flute, Shahnai , Panpipe as well as Nai (instrument) or Nay) joined. He later attended the Habibia Gymnasium in Kabul and then studied literature at the University of Kabul . In 1989 he lived in exile in Prague , Hamburg and Paris, where he met his future wife Sultana Emam. They married in 1993 and moved to Virginia in 1995 , where they lived for a while. In 1996 Darya's son Hejran was born. In 2003 Darya went back to Afghanistan. Darya currently lives with his family in Kabul and travels regularly to Europe and the USA. Darya is one of the most famous and influential singers in the country because of his social and artistic commitment.

Career

Darya first appeared on Afghan television in 1980. After a short time he switched from classical Afghan music to Afghan pop music . Already in his first professional album, with Ustad Mahwasch , he sang and composed all his songs. With his first solo singles Alam Ganj , Laila Lakhta Da , "Aaya Attan" and Laila Nawroz as , 19-year-old Darya became known all over Afghanistan .

During his literature studies he formed the Gorohe Baran ( Rain Band ) with four participants. This band developed a new music genre in Afghan music, folk pop. After their first album, the band became the most successful and popular band in Afghanistan. Baran released two more albums - however, the band split up in 1985 for undisclosed reasons.

Darya started his solo career now, he has released 22 albums to date. Most of his songs were censored in Afghanistan because they also contained political content.

social commitment

Darya got involved in charity concerts and other projects for the victims of the Afghan civil war. Darya was the first Afghan singer to return to Afghanistan for a concert. He also writes and composes for many other Afghan singers. In 2006 he also took part in the project "Encounters - an alliance for children" by Peter Maffay .

Darya has been a Goodwill Global Ambassador for Afghanistan in the United Nations Development Program since 2008 . In the same year he produced the album Yahoo with Goar B to promote the peace process in Afghanistan.

Darya promotes peace in Afghanistan with his songs. Under the motto Zendagi zebast , he traveled the Silk Road within what is now Afghanistan.

Others

Darya has the poem of Hafez in the 14th century AD. Christ titled plant the tree of friendship sung. Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall translated the poem .
